Thanks to a range, oven, refrigerator/freezer as well as an electric water jug, you will be able to conjure up all kinds of delectable dishes, both easy and challenging – with an ample supply of cutlery, crockery and pots & pans provided. St. Englmar can also be explored excellently on two wheels. Sporty climbs, thrilling downhills and an array of unique moments guarantee pure biking exhilaration during your holiday at Englmar Chalets. In addition to the beauty of its landscapes, the region is also a big hit due to its excellent network of bike trails. With a total distance of 300 km, the marked MTB trails lead you the length and breadth of the region. From easy to challenging routes, simply everything you could wish for. E-bikers also value the highlights of mountain bike Eldorado St. Englmar immensely.

Climbing in the Bavarian Forest

Bavarian Forest National Park promises pure climbing enjoyment for the whole family. All visitors, big and small, are excited by Kletterwald St. Englmar. Awaiting you there are eight fun-filled climbing courses for you to master – safely secured by ropes, of course. One to eleven meters above the forest floor, you will be able to show off your full array of climbing skills. Meanwhile, the youngsters are sure to have a marvelous time clambering around their very own kids’ course (ages four and up). The climbing wall in the Kurpark and the climbing playground at Rodel- & Freizeitparadies Sankt Englmar are also well worth a visit.

Tip 1: Climbing forest St. Englmar

Ready for adventure? Then the Climbing Forest St. Englmar is just the thing for you and your family. At the foot of the Bavarian Forest, eight fun-parcours with a total length of 1.2 km are waiting for you. With 65 different elements, the adventure park offers a whole range of possibilities for every climbing enthusiast. In the special toddler-parcours, the little ones among you can gain your first experiences in the climbing world. Depending on which parcours you want to conquer, the climbing height varies between one and 11 metres. Plenty of action and excitement is guaranteed for the whole family.

Tip 2: Waldwipfelweg

Approx. 6 km from the resort

Experience the forest from a completely different perspective. At the Waldwipfelweg St. Englmar, the approximately 1 km long pathway leads past magnificent views of the Bavarian Forest, the Danube Valley and the Gäuboden. While the impressive panorama excites the grown-ups, the children conquer the forest tower. Eight climbing elements lead up to the top of the 32 m high tower.

A further attraction at the Waldwipfelweg is the “Haus am Kopf”. The upside-down house plays tricks on our perception and is the perfect location for fun holiday pics.

Tip 3: Tobogganing and leisure paradise St. Englmar

In the tobogganing and leisure paradise of St. Englmar, fun, games and adventure are at the top of the agenda. Take a ride on Bavaria's longest roller coaster, which provides plenty of action with a total length of 755 m and a height difference of up to 27 m. Or enjoy the descent on the two summer-toboggan runs, each 1.000 m long. More than 30 different attractions await you at the 75.000 m² leisure paradise, ensuring your next adrenaline rush.

And best of all: Entry to the St. Englmar tobogganing and leisure paradise is free of charge.

At the foot of the Bavarian Forest, an area of 145 ha, filled with attractions, awaits you. From the turbulent Hell Coaster to the 18 m high Super Swing and the 11 m high "Maibaumflieger” - there is plenty to experience for the whole family at the nature and leisure park Edelwies.

Away from roller coasters and rides, you will be welcomed to the nature park by meerkats, alpacas, nandus, capybara and kangaroos. A real highlight is the petting zoo, which is especially popular among children. Here, trusting goats want to be petted and fed by you.

Just 1.2 km from your holiday home in the Bavarian Forest, you will discover Sankt Englmar’s family-friendly ski area. At elevations between 800 – 1,095 meters above sea level, pure skiing enjoyment is guaranteed: Twelve kilometers of pistes, eight lifts with floodlit slopes after dark and hills up to 2.5 km long are just waiting to be conquered by you, day and night. On the Markbuchen and Hochpröller (especially popular with snowboarders), experience pure powder pleasure on pistes covered in natural snow.

Cross-country skiing during holidays in St. Englmar

The St. Englmar holiday region is a paradise for cross-country fans, offering a grand total of 200 km of perfectly tracked trails. Cross-country opportunities in the region include the Klinglbachloipe (classic technique), Sonnenloipe Maibrun (“skating” and classic) and Tannenbaumloipe Sankt Englmar (skating and classic). We would also like to draw your attention to “DSV nordic aktiv Langlaufzentrum St. Englmar-Hirschenstein”: With a 74 km network consisting of eight different trails and a full range of difficulty, it excites beginners as well as experienced XCers and pros.

In winter, too, the magical low-elevation mountain landscapes of St. Englmar are eager to be explored. Look forward to 45 km of cleared winter hiking paths as you set out on a personal expedition of discovery. During a snowshoe hike, you have an unbeatable opportunity to encounter the region in its most pristine form. Trudge through the snow, hear the crunching beneath your feet and gaze out on nature – a very special experience that’s definitely not to be missed. For those who prefer something a little more laid back, we would suggest the 2 km long cleared winter footpaths.
