The (Bow-)Wow Effect: Holidays with Dogs at ALPS Residence

by

If you are lucky enough to count a dog as one of your friends, you will not want to forgo his companionship during your holidays either. Quite understandable. The most precious days of the entire year should be spent with your nearest and dearest. And your fuzzy-nosed furry pal is definitely part of the family. Naturally, he should be made to feel just as welcome as his two-legged mommy and daddy. At select ALPS Resorts, a special welcome treat will be waiting for your dog at check-in. This includes our dog-friendly Erzberg Alpin Resort in Hochsteiermark.

Erzberg Alpin Resort: Dog-friendly holiday apartments in Styria

As we said: When you check into your apartment in Styria, there will be a welcome treat waiting for your dog. He will definitely have earned it after that long trip in the car. You can borrow bowls and blankets for your holiday apartment at the reception desk, whilst we will also be happy to provide you with “poop bags” as well. Fresh drinking water is always available at our holiday resorts – straight out of the tap. Right outside the front door of your spacious apartment, you and your faithful companion will be greeted by glorious nature and the Austrian mountains.

Experienced dog owners themselves, our staff at Erzberg Alpin Resort know precisely where our four-legged friends as well as their mommies and daddies feel most at ease when they are outside of their holiday apartment. Which restaurants and mountain huts are happy to welcome dogs, which routes are particularly suitable for “walkies” and, in the event of an emergency, where to reach the nearest veterinarian. Anita, who works at the reception, shared two of her favorite tours and excursion destinations close to the apartment resort with us in ALPS Magazine. They were also given a thorough once-over and passing grade by her own puppy, Maci.

Leopoldsteinersee: From the Erzberg Alpin Resort, you will reach Leopoldsteinersee, which is roughly 2 km away, in half an hour. You will be able to complete a walk around the lake – about 4 km – in one and a half hours. Dogs are welcome year-round at this turquoise, shimmering natural jewel. A little extra refreshment on hot summer days works wonders for humans and animals alike. So, you will be happy to hear that dogs are also welcome to splash about in the lake. Anita’s tip: Circle the lake in a clockwise direction.

Grüblsee: At the Präbichl, you will find “Alpen Aquarium Grüblsee”. This man-made facility is actually the highest diving station in Europe. Dogs are also welcome next to and in the lake. Grüblsee is approximately a 15-minute drive from the Erzberg Alpin Resort.

Our reception also has contact information for a local dog association. In Eisenerz, just 400 m from your apartment, you will find the grounds of the Austrian Purebred Association, which you are welcome to visit with your dog by appointment.

Holidays with a dog in an apartment or holiday home in Austria

Three other of our ALPS Resorts were awarded “three paws” by the Internet platform pfotencheck.com. In other words: Dogs and their owners are very welcome!

Salzburger Land, Annaberg: Alpendorf Dachstein West: At these cozy holiday homes at the foot of the Bischofsmütze in Salzburger Land, you will sense that authentic “hut feeling”. One hike that your faithful four-legged friend is certain to love, leads you out to the Gosauseen lakes. There, dogs are encouraged to jump into the cool, wet water without giving it a second thought.

Styria, Hohentauern: Feriendorf Hohentauern: The holiday homes of dog-friendly Feriendorf Hohentauern in Styria lie at 1250 m above sea level, surrounded by more than twenty 2000 m peaks. Here, together with your dog, you will be able to enjoy peaceful holidays filled with outdoor activities in a fully equipped holiday home. Far removed from the hectic outside world, surrounded by nature.

Styria, Murau - Kreischberg: Ferienpark Kreischberg: This holiday goodie for your dog simply has to be seen to be believed: When you arrive, you will receive a welcome gift consisting of a Vet-Concept doggie food package (2 x 100 g packs of dry food, 1 can of dog food, small treats) as well as a dog magazine to browse in the comfort of your holiday home or holiday apartment. You can probably already imagine how quickly your faithful friend will make himself right at home. The Murau region also has a number of opportunities to go “pet trailing”. Our employees, who have lots of personal experience with dogs, will provide you with contact information and answer all of your questions. If you’re interested, please contact the reception well in advance.

At our other ALPS Resorts, there are individual apartments and holiday homes where dogs are welcome by arrangement. Information about prices, offers, leash requirements etc. is available from the on-site reception desk. Animal companionship does wonders for people. As does a holiday spent in Styria, Carinthia, Tyrol or Salzburg. Simply write us a message or phone us – we will be happy to provide you with helpful advice about your upcoming holiday with your dog in the Austrian mountains!
