Skiing in Salzburg
Slice down the piste for the first time this season in the same place where the world’s elite skiers train. The glacier on the “Kitz” is a popular spot during pre-season for world-class skiers to gather and prepare for the impending race season. As it is for those who can barely contain themselves as they wait for winter in Austria to arrive and who, quite frankly, would have preferred to keep their skis on their feet even during the summer months. And yes, even that’s possible, too: In summer, go skiing on the glacier in the morning, then slip into a bikini in the afternoon for a refreshing dip in Zeller See. By now, of course, the lake is a little too cold for swimming, which is good reason to focus on the snow. And on our offer for all of you “winter kids” out there who can’t wait to return to your snowy playground.
Your apartment for your skiing holidays
Your apartment at Tauernsuites Mitterwirt is about a 5-minute drive from the valley station of the Maiskogel in Kaprun. From there, the gondola will carry you up to 3029 m. And believe us when we say, the gondola ride alone is an unforgettable experience in its own right! The 3K K-onnection was opened last winter. Since then, passengers have been able to float from the modern Kaprun Center (elev. 768 m) via a 12 km-long panoramic cableway into the very heart of the glacier ski area. By making this investment, the Kitzsteinhorn has more than done justice to its pioneer status in lift technology.
You can pick up your ski pass at the Tauernsuites Mitterwirt reception. And it’s not “just” valid for the glacier ski area in Kaprun. It is accepted from the beginning of winter season in December at 3 famous ski areas including the Kitzsteinhorn, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and Saalbach-Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Only the best of the Alps for you! Exciting for families: a day-ticket for Naglköpfl Adventure Mountain is free with the Fun+Card, which is automatically included with your apartment stay for free. There, your littlest “ski dudes” will find 2 bunny lifts, a tow lift, a tubing hill and a trampoline. You’ll barely bump into one local who didn’t learn to ski up there on the “Nagl”.
